One of the most elegant places I have ever been to, is The Ritz. Last weekend, some family and friends of mine went to London to celebrate my cousin's hen day. Walking into The Ritz is like walking into a scene from Downton Abbey. Everybody's dressed tastefully, men are in suits, women in dresses, and it is very peaceful. We were seated by a wall covered in mirrors, which reflected the Silver teapots and the mesmerising chandelier. The selction of tea was brilliant, everything from Royal English to passion fruit... which made it even funnier that my Aunt asked for a coffee! I tried my very first macaroon, which I was pleasantly surprised by, and now I cannot wait to eat more of them. The waiters were amazing, they didn't hesitate to bring us more tea, take photographs, bring out a cake with a candle on to sing happy birthday (even though none of our party had a birthday) which made it so much more relaxing and let me tell you, it is so much fun being waited on hand and foot!
So after about 4 trays of sandwhiches, and even more scones and cakes, we headed across to the Novello Theatre to watch Mamma Mia! Which was absolutely amazing, so much so that I have had to put ABBA's greatest hits onto my iTunes! Despite my grandmother falling asleep half way through, everybody thoroughly enjoyed it and there was not a seated soul at the end when everybody was dancing and singing along.
So all in all, a brilliant day in London was had and I recommend Afternoon Tea at the Ritz, and going to see Mamma Mia, if you haven't yet done so!
