Nothing But Thieves
When I was about 16, my friends and I attended a small gig in London, and the opening act was a band called Nothing But Thieves. Four talented 20 something year olds from Essex - although now there's five. Since seeing them perform, I have followed their progress through youtube and twitter. They uploaded various covers on youtube (but for some strange reason most of them have been deleted now) and every single one of them was just perfection. The comments on their music video's are near enough all positive, which is saying something.
The lead singer's voice is brilliant. He seems to always put in everything he has to his performances which gives them so much more of an emotional side. Last year I attended a gig of theirs and hearing the passion in their live performance was something special, because most artists these days are more focused on entertaining their audience that they forget what their songs are actually about (well, thats my opinion anyway.)
Hearing their song 'Graveyard Whistling' on Radio 1 was a little surreal. I did a bit of a double take when I heard Fearne Cotton say their name on her broadcast - a band that I'd been watching covers from was on the radio?
Their sound is quite intense, starting quite slow and tranquil and building up and up - which is something I personally love, and each of their songs has a very interesting guitar melody.
I'm excited to see where their career goes next.
